What's the Point? Original Musical Comedy Revue

During the "New Concerts at Tudor City" concert, Hector Coris sang a song from his upcoming musical comedy review "What's the Point?" It was a lovely, hilarious song both imitating and making fun of the "American Idol" phenomenon. He had fliers of his show, and I immediately took one. Here's the information - if the show is anything like that one song, it will be a laugh riot night.

This lady, who hosts the Algonquin Salon open mic many a time as well as the New Concerts at Tudor City Greens, is one of the most talented, beautiful, supportive and encouraging people I've met in New York to date. She never hesitates to say "way to go" or "you can do it!" when referring to new shows, projects, songs, and dreams. And the shows she hosts are always full of talent, humor and energy, a positive experience for performers and audience alike. If this is how she hosts her shows, heaven knows what amazingness will be seen in her solo work. Plus, with Eric Michael Gillett and David Caldwell at the helm, it's bound to be a tight, well-orchestrated night of her talent.

I'll be there...wanna book a table together?

Jenna Esposito: Takin' A Chance on Love

2008 MAC Award Nominee for Female Vocalist Jenna Esposito in:

"Takin' A Chance on Love"

Jenna sang at the Tudor City Greens concert last week, and was so charming. Great, classic voice for the songs she sang, classic 50's and big band 40's songs.

Jenna returns to The Metropolitan Room with an encore performance of her newest show, "Takin’ A Chance On Love!" Featuring a wide selection of (you guessed it!) love songs, from a wide variety of writers, including Harold Arlen, the Gershwins, Jerome Kern, Kander & Ebb, and Leonard Cohen, the show is a musical journey through the course of a romance.
Reservations strongly encouraged; please call (212) 206-0440.

Ten West Physical Comedians comes to New York!!!

These guys are not just "clowns" in the traditional sense. Far from it - no pancake makeup is utilized. Merely some old-fashioned clothing and a lot of imagination. I caught them a few times in Los Angeles (they are associated with the Sacred Fools theater company) and they are true thinker's sketch artists - mostly wordless, they are often naughty, many times sweet, and take advantage of the height of Stephen Simon and the comparative shortness of Jon Monastero to incredible humor and charm. Director Bryan Coffee has obvious understanding of how to tell story and character without words. It's evident these guys work hard on their craft.

If you're in the New York area this coming weekend, spend an hour with these guys. I guarantee it will be a fabulous time, and there are no scary clown noses to throw you into nightmares.

Oh, and if you're on Goldstar, you can get discounted $8 tickets. Regular price is $15, which is still a great price!!!
