Special Marquee Five news!

There will be two upcoming shows of "We Can Make It: The Songs of Kander and Ebb" at Don't Tell Mama, February 25th and April 15th, 2010 at 8:30pm. That means pick up your pencils - nay your PENS - and put us in your calendar! I will post a more detailed blog about these events, and in the meantime...

Another annoucement: Marquee Five has been added to the lineup on March 17th at the now hip-hop-happening open mic "Wednesday Night at the Iguana," hosted by Richard Skipper and Dana Lorge. We will do a few previously heard numbers, perhaps, but more importantly we will sing a special St. Patrick's Day arrangement by Adam West Hemming. More information can be found at: www.marqueefive.com.

More information to come!!!

Woops, there goes January!

It's been more than a month since I updated this blog! In this quick note: I have a lot of pots on the stove, boiling away at some creative ventures.

#1: Marquee Five will announce soon a few more upcoming shows! Check out www.marqueefive.com in the coming weeks - we'll have announcements, new photo updates By Adam Jason Photography from our Metropolitan Room run in December, and soon some Video will also be added (I know 'cause I'm editing it with James Eden, one of our videographers).

#2: I'll be performing for Jay Alan Zimmerman's "ART/SONG Broadway Voices Made Visible" (Facebook Event) from Feb. 23rd — Mar 16th at chashama’s Times Square Gallery. Exact performance dates for myself will be announced shortly. Performance dates for the entire event are February 23, & 27; March 3, 6, 10, and 13. For more information, visit www.musicbyJAZ.com and www.chashama.org.

#3: I am now the official Blogette of The Salon open mic by Mark Janas, and will update the official blog on a weekly basis. The blog can be seen at www.markjanasthesalon.blogspot.com. In addition to blogging about the open mic nights, you can surely hear me sing with friends or doing a solo.

#4: I'm currently rehearsing for a recording session with lyricist Mark Garcia and composer Alan Cancelino on an upcoming project/submission of theirs. If I can post the mp3, entitled "Sunset," I will certainly do so.

#5: Social Networking Plug: those who wish to follow me on twitter can do so : @sierrarein! You can also find my Facebook Profile and my Official Website, or maybe even my YouTube account.

Thassal for now!

A letter to all the Senators in NY who voted "No" on the Marriage Equality Act today

Senator,

Because of your choice to vote "No" in today's Marriage Equality Act voting, you will not get my New York vote in the future. I have too many friends, family members, and loved ones who are being treated like second-class citizens. My husband and I are able to enjoy full citizenship but not my friends and other family members? Your act today is a shameful one, and many of my New York friends from across the state are listening, seeing your actions, and will adjust their votes accordingly to reflect a new future of tolerance and legal freedom.

I hope one day some of your rights are taken away so that you may experience what hundreds of thousands of people are now feeling every day of their lives.

Ashamed of my state,

Sierra
